A revitalized donor outreach campaign aims to secure the future of WNPA’s programs and strengthen its support for local journalism.
The WNPA Foundation has been blessed to steward endowments gifted years past to support the internship program, helping steer many new journalists into the field with hands-on experience. The board recentlyagreed to focus again on increasing its communications to those donors, and to convey the urgent need to others who are also committed to a strong journalism workforce.
The renewed focus on fundraising will provide an investment in the future of community journalism for WNPA newspapers across the state. We aim to ensure that our members, interns and partner newsrooms continue to thrive.
"Building and maintaining our fundraising program is essential to our internship program -- not just sustaining it but to growing it," said Executive Director Ellen Hiatt. "We also want to ensure that we're taking the time to acknowledge and honor our donors, their generosity and commitment to the work. Stewarding up and coming journalists will have a lasting impact in our communities for years to come."
